A Look Inside a Stylish & Colourful Family Home in Chiswick

This stunning house on one of Chiswick’s prime streets has had a complete architectural redesign and interior fit out, with HUX appointed to provide a full joinery package.

As soon as you enter this London home you will find yourself immersed in a whirl of colour and creativity. From the top, a huge skylight was positioned in the centre roofline where shards of light now bathe the hallways. This addition made the property bright, bold and charmingly quirky; in a quintessentially English way.

Bespoke joinery was designed, crafted and installed by HUX throughout most of the house.

In the bathroom the purist white marble-clad master suite juxtaposes black metal hardware in its double walk-in shower, a whirlpool jet bath and a bespoke twin vanity unit with plenty of storage to hide away clutter and ensure the space flowed.

The hand-crafted master dressing room is also a joy, with yards of open hanging space, elegant joinery, drawers and a central jewellery island for the keenest fashionista.

Downstairs, the ground floor formal lounge and library are separated by a double-sided fireplace flanked by floor to ceiling crittal doors. The jewel coloured velvet furniture and precious stone art pieces in the lounge bring a lot of fun into the space, and make it less serious, more interesting, and most importantly, make it personal.

For the library / piano room we crafted a beautiful double height floor to ceiling bespoke bookshelf in Xylocleaf Vulcano FB49 Ares. This is decorated with interesting objects and colourful books creating a show stopping unit that breathes character, personality and life.

Natural light pours in through minimal steel-framed sliding doors, casting sunlight down onto not just the smoked oak parquet floors but also onto the full width walk on rooflight, which in turn floods light down into the basement cinema room.

Here we designed a bespoke floor to ceiling storage wall for the cinema room, finished in Slate III by Paint & Paper Library, incorporating a full AV surround sound system, ideal for film watching.

In the cinema room we wanted to make the most of its large skylight by placing a seating booth directly underneath it to bathe diners in sunlight. This neat design makes the most of the available space and creates a cosy area in the cinema room.

Modern low-level panelling was added to the hallway to bring texture and detail. We designed this in a contemporary style with a square edge dado and decorated it in Slate IV by Paint & Paper Library, blending the hallway nicely with the rest of the house.

Finally, we were able to have some fun creating bespoke joinery for the children’s bedroom. Drawing on Scandi-style inspiration, we designed a bespoke kids “bunk bed” with open shelving, recessed bedside table in Xylocleaf S070 Sherwood, with full wardrobe and recessed climbing holes to the non-visible side.

This stunning and colourful family home is where fun and design go hand in hand, bringing cosy and inviting spaces (perfect for a family) with a vibrant and modern style. Each corner of the home has been beautifully curated with an impeccable attention to detail.
